James Herr
James’s courtroom experience spans from criminal and civil trials to arguing before the Washington Supreme Court. For Marshall & Saunders, he primarily helps clients challenge convictions and sentences on appeal.
James successfully convinced the Washington Supreme Court to unanimously reverse the Court of Appeals, resulting in dismissal of his client’s charges. He has tried both civil and criminal cases with a high success rate and argued and responded to substantive motions like suppression issues, motions to dismiss, and motions for summary judgment.
James graduated from the University of Michigan Law School cum laude. While in law school, he interned with the Washtenaw County Public Defenders (winning his first trial), and worked in the Juvenile Justice Clinic, defending children accused of crimes throughout Michigan. James graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.A. in History and Anthropology.
