Sarra joined Marshall and Saunders in 2023 after spending the majority of her career in public defense with the King County Department of Public Defense. There, she handled cases from simple misdemeanors up to aggravated murder and sex offenses. Some of her notable case achievements include obtaining a dismissal for a client charged with the aggravated murder of a law enforcement officer and many trial acquittals for clients charged with arson and residential burglary, drug possession, assault, and more.
Sarra also handled serious sex offenses and recently had one of her cases – where her client faced a mandatory life sentence for kidnapping with sexual motivation – returned to the trial court after appeal based on the objections Sarra raised in the trial court. Sarra quickly rose through the ranks at King County DPD and concluded her career there as a supervisor, working directly with judges and training new attorneys.
Before law school, Sarra worked as a domestic violence victim advocate for the King County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fleet and Family Support Center at Naval Station Everett, giving her a keen understanding of the dynamics of prosecution. Now she uses that knowledge to help people facing serious charges.
Sarra’s commitment to defense work stems from her longstanding love of advocacy. Her greatest pride in this work is giving her clients a voice in this system and the honor of being the one they trust to fight for them in an overbearing and alienating system. Sarra considers every client to be worthy of patience and compassion and every case to be worthy of hard work to achieve the best goal for her clients.
Sarra is a Washington native who grew up locally and attended the University of Washington for her undergraduate studies. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School with a concentration in Criminal Law and awards for her student advocacy and pro bono work.
